Communication with Your Callers
01Does Equal AI message the people who call me?
Yes — when your assistant handles a call and the caller tells it why they called, Equal AI sends that caller a short WhatsApp confirmation on your behalf, so they know their message reached you. It only goes to callers who actually spoke with your assistant, it is sent from Equal AI's official WhatsApp Business number (never your personal number), and it is signed on your behalf — for example '— Aman's Equal AI assistant'.
02What exactly does my caller receive?
Two short confirmations, both plain updates with no offers or promotions: (1) Message taken — sent after your assistant has handled the call, confirming to the caller that their message has been passed on to you, along with the reason they gave for calling. (2) Message seen — sent once you have opened that conversation in the app, so the caller knows you have seen it. Each message identifies itself as coming from Equal AI and is signed on your behalf.
03Which of my callers get these confirmations?
Only callers who are already known to you — people saved in your contacts — and only when your assistant actually spoke with them on your behalf. Unknown and unsaved numbers are not messaged. If a call never reaches your assistant, or the caller hangs up before saying anything, nothing is sent. The feature is also rolling out gradually, so it may not be active on your account yet.
04When is each confirmation sent?
The 'message taken' confirmation goes out right after your assistant finishes the call and prepares the summary — usually within a minute or two. The 'message seen' confirmation goes out after you open that conversation in the app. Nothing is ever sent while the call is still in progress.
05How do I stop Equal AI from messaging my callers?
Open the Home Screen → Settings → WhatsApp Updates → turn off 'Send read receipts to callers'. Your assistant keeps answering and summarising calls exactly as before — it just stops sending confirmations to your callers. You can turn it back on anytime.
06If I stop caller confirmations, do I stop getting my own WhatsApp updates?
No. WhatsApp Updates holds two separate settings: 'Get updates on WhatsApp' controls the updates Equal AI sends to you (call alerts, summaries, account updates), and 'Send read receipts to callers' controls the confirmations sent to people who call you. Turning off one does not affect the other.
07Does the caller get my call recording, transcript or summary?
No. The recording, the full transcript and the detailed summary stay in your account and are visible only to you. The caller's confirmation contains just a short note that their message reached you, plus the reason they themselves gave for calling.
08How does my caller know the message is genuine and not spam?
Every message clearly identifies itself as coming from Equal AI and is signed on behalf of the specific person the caller rang — for example '— Aman's Equal AI assistant'. Equal AI never asks callers for OTPs, money, passwords, payment details or personal information in these messages. If a caller receives a message claiming to be from Equal AI that asks for any of those, it is not from us.
09Can callers reply to the confirmation and reach me that way?
The confirmation is not a chat with you — it is a one-way update sent on your behalf, and the quick-reply options only let the caller say the message was helpful or ask to stop future updates. If you want to respond, call the person back from their conversation in the app.
10Does this cost me anything?
No. Sending these confirmations is part of your Equal AI subscription — there is no extra charge to you, and no charge to the caller for receiving them.
11Are confirmations sent when my assistant is snoozed, or when a call is not handled?
No. A confirmation only exists because your assistant had a conversation with the caller. If your assistant is snoozed, if call forwarding did not go through, or if the call rang directly to you, there is no assistant conversation — so no confirmation is sent.
